Oh, Canada. This sparsely populated northern country offers some very attractive and unique options for skiing. Many of the ski areas in western Canada are set in very wild and beautiful areas, and you would be hard-pressed to find a friendlier group of people than snow-happy Canadian skiers.

British Columbia's Whistler/Blackcomb is the largest ski area in North America, and will be the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. This has led to a lot of development at the resort including the record-breaking Peak to Peak Gondola, and this truly world class resort attracts millions of visitors every year.

Other internationally notable Canadian resorts include Tremblant and Mont Saine Anne in the East and Revelstoke Mountain which only opened at Christmas 2007 but now has the continent’s biggest lift-served vertical and Banff; but there are several hundred more laid-back options and smaller resorts spread across the country. The hills and forests of eastern Canada have their fair share of skiing as well, and in the East you will have plenty of opportunities to practice your français en piste.
